On May 9, 2025, the University of the Western Cape (UWC) hosted the “Walk for Peace” event, which drew enthusiastic participation from faculty, students, and members of the local community.
As part of the event, Dr. Yang Hang from the Confucius Institute led participants in practicing Baduanjin, a traditional Chinese Qigong exercise. By promoting muscle relaxation and breath regulation, this session served as a warm-up for the walk while showcasing the unique appeal of traditional Chinese medicine.
Both UWC and Confucius Institute directors signed the Peace Wall, calling for unity and peace, and highlighting UWC’s commitment to its social responsibility as an educational institution.

This innovative event integrated peace advocacy with traditional Chinese wellness culture, effectively promoting intercultural understanding and the concept of shared global governance.
