UWC Hosts Delegation from Chang’an University for Academic Exchange

22, August , 2025, a group of delegation from Chang’an University, China, visited the University of the Western Cape (UWC) for an academic exchange meeting held at the Confucius Institute Boardroom.

During the meeting, Dr. Mandy Carolissen, Head of the Department of Geography, Environmental Studies & Tourism, introduced her department’s academic focus; and Prof. Thokozani Kanyerere, Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair Center on Hydrogeology/ Geohydrology, presented an overview of Environmental Water Sciences also introduced Environmental Water Sciences Studies and their research field. The delegates from Chang’an University then provided an introduction the research strengths of the School of Water & Environment and their interest of research collaboration.

During the discussion session, participants engaged in meaningful exchanges on prospective collaborations in geography, environmental studies, and water sciences. The meeting concluded with a group photo, marking a successful step toward enhanced cooperation between the two institutions.
