Let's exercise together!

On 8 October 2025, Confucius Institute at UWC was invited to participate in the “Mental Health and Wellness Week” organized by the university’s Centre for Student Support Services (CSSS). With the theme “Wellness in Bloom,” the event aimed to enhance awareness of mental health among students and staff and to promote a positive and balanced lifestyle.

During the event, teachers from the Confucius Institute led participants in practicing Baduanjin, a traditional Chinese health-preserving exercise known for its gentle movements and focus on breathing regulation. The session was warmly received by students and staff for its relaxing and restorative effects. The Confucius Institute also set up a Chinese tea experience area, offering Chinese tea tasting to participants and inviting them to experience the calm and harmony embodied in Chinese tea culture.

By integrating the essence of traditional Chinese medicine with wellness education, the Confucius Institute brought unique cultural vitality and Eastern wisdom to the UWC campus, further deepening mutual understanding and cultural exchange between China and South Africa.

I love the idea of exercising together! ragdoll playground I’ve found that running with friends totally motivates me. However, have you tried mixing it up with some yoga? It really balances my runs!

"This event is a wonderful way to promote mental wellness on campus! Traditional exercises like Baduanjin are perfect for staying balanced. Along with physical activity, I find that quick cognitive breaks are also helpful. Playing Slice Master is my favorite way to sharpen my focus and relax my mind between study sessions. It’s a satisfying video game that complements a healthy, active lifestyle perfectly. Thanks for sharing!"

Great initiative! Pairing physical exercise with short cognitive breaks can boost motivation and focus. For example, a quick timing‑based game like Slice Master can be a fun mental reset between workouts or classroom activities without distracting from healthy habits.
