Jinhua Municipal Visit

On September 24, 2025, all members of the CI at UWC welcomed a delegation led by Zhang Jian, Deputy Secretary of the Jinhua Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Jinhua, and held a constructive meeting.

During the meeting, Mayor Zhang attentively listened to briefings from both Chinese and South African directors of the Confucius Institute on the University of the Western Cape’s history, the development of the Institute, and cultural exchanges between China and South Africa. He fully recognized the Institute’s achievements since its establishment in Chinese language education, the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine, and fostering of mutual understanding. Mayor Zhang also highly praised the dedication of teachers and the volunteer team dispatched from Zhejiang Normal University , while offering suggestions for the sustainable development of the Institute.

This visit has injected fresh momentum into educational and cultural cooperation between Jinhua and the University of the Western Cape, further consolidating the foundation for cultural and academic exchange between China and South Africa.
