On May 15, 2026, Counselor Fan Ding and his delegation from the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa visited the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). All teachers of the Confucius Institute participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Chinese and foreign directors of the institute delivered special reports on the development history, recent work, and future plans of the Confucius Institute. Teachers also shared updates on their teaching and cultural promotion activities.

Counselor Fan Ding fully affirmed the achievements of the Confucius Institute in recent years, with particular praise for the successful organization of this year's "Chinese Bridge" competition. He pointed out that future efforts should further promote endogenous development, strengthen the local team of Chinese language teachers, continuously enhance the institute's capacity for localized operation and sustainable development, and lay a solid foundation for the high-quality and localized development of the Confucius Institute.
