Updated: Feb 17, 2025

On February 8th, the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape (CI at UWC) successfully co-hosted a vibrant Lantern Festival Market at Central Park, Century City, Cape Town, attracting local residents to experience the unique charm of Chinese culture.

CI at UWC has two stalls, offering tea tasting, calligraphy exhibitions, and Chinese handicraft displays, offering a rich and diverse array of activities. The festive atmosphere of the market was lively and engaging, with interactive experiences allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the richness of Chinese culture.

The stalls not only added to the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year but also served as an important bridge for cultural exchange between China and South Africa.
