Chinese New Year Event Preview

On January 21, 2025, the Confucius Institute for Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape was invited to attend the Chinese New Year reception hosted by the Consulate General of China in Cape Town, South Africa.


The event featured calligraphy and tea culture experience booths, attracting guests attending the reception to jointly appreciate the charm of traditional Chinese culture.


At the calligraphy booth, teachers guided participants in writing creative versions of the Chinese character "福" (happiness and good fortune). Meanwhile, the tea art booth demonstrated the unique allure of traditional Chinese tea ceremonies, offering attenders a chance to savor the fragrance of tea and appreciate the beauty of Chinese etiquette. 


This event not only highlighted the profound heritage of Chinese traditional culture but also further strengthened cultural exchanges between China and South Africa.

The Chinese New Year event hosted by the Consulate General of China in Cape Town was a wonderful celebration of traditional Chinese culture. The calligraphy and tea culture booths offered guests a chance to engage with the artistic and ceremonial aspects of Chinese heritage.
