Baduanjin Featured at UWC Men’s Health Day

On 18 November 2025, the UWC HR Employee Wellness of the UWC hosted the “Empower Him: Men’s Health & Wellness Event”, offering professional support across a wide range of areas, including health screenings, mental wellness, fitness guidance, and lifestyle improvement.

The Confucius Institute for Chinese Medicine contributed to the event by dispatching a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) instructor and teachers to lead a Baduanjin wellness session for staff members. With its gentle movements, steady rhythm, and integrated mind–body benefits, Baduanjin became one of the highlights of the programme. Under the instructor’s professional demonstration and guidance, participants learned the fundamental movements and experienced the practice’s effectiveness in relieving stress, improving posture, and enhancing overall physical and mental balance.

The Confucius Institute participation not only showcased the unique value of TCM in health promotion but also strengthened its role in cultural service and engagement on campus. Moving forward, the Confucius Institute will continue to serve as a bridge between cultures, leveraging its Chinese medicine resources to offer high-quality wellness and cultural programmes to the university community, and to foster deeper cultural exchange and cooperation between China and South Africa.

It's refreshing to see Baduanjin featured at UWC's Men's Health Day on Nov 18 - really shows how TCM wellness can bring mind-body balance to campus life. Honestly, managing my own routine feels just like using a playlist duration calculator to figure out total playlist time; whether it's workouts or youtube playlist hours, knowing the total helps you stay on track.

It’s wonderful to see traditional practices like Baduanjin being shared at men’s health events, bringing gentle, holistic wellness to campus communities. Just as this practice balances mind and body, tools like the Impedance Calculator help maintain precision in technical work, showing how both wellness and practical tools support balanced daily living. This kind of cross-cultural health initiative truly enriches university life and promotes meaningful, long-term wellbeing.
