Celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On September 26, 2025, the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town hosted a grand reception to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Confucius Institute at UWC were invited to attend, joining distinguished guests from various sectors to witness this significant occasion.

In his keynote address, Consul General You Wenze reviewed the remarkable achievements made by China over the past 76 years, highlighting the country’s contributions to global governance, world peace, and economic growth. He also spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of China-South Africa relations in the areas of political trust, trade and investment, and cultural exchange, expressing hope for continued efforts from all sides to further advance bilateral relations.

The event not only showcased the accomplishments of China’s development path, but also underscored the solid foundation and broad prospects of China-South Africa relations. CI at UWC will continue to play its role as a bridge for educational and cultural exchange, deepening mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of both countries, and contributing to the building of a China-South Africa community with a shared future.
