Blue Star Beyond the Window

On September 26, 2025, together with China Central Television (CCTV),  the CI organized a special screening of Blue Star Beyond the Window, China’s first 8K space film produced by China Media Group. Forty students together with all CI teachers attended the event and experienced this unique cinematic journey into space.

Filmed aboard the China Space Station, 400 kilometers above Earth, the documentary captures rare moments of Shenzhou-13 astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu conducting spacewalks, extravehicular operations, and spacecraft docking. Through breathtaking visuals and authentic space footage, the film immerses viewers in the grandeur of the cosmos, while reflecting the spirit of exploration and humanity’s relentless pursuit of the unknown.

Following the screening, several students were interviewed by China Central Television (CCTV), where they expressed their impressions of the film. They noted that it not only demonstrated the integration of science and art but also conveyed the astronauts’ courage and perseverance. The event offered UWC students and faculty an unprecedented “cosmic” viewing experience and stood as another vivid example of cultural and scientific exchange between China and South Africa.
