AI - A blessing or a curse (English competition)

Cape Town, South Africa, October 6, 14:30 SAST - The Confucius Institute at the University of the Western Cape hosted the 5th Belt and Road Youth English-Speaking Competition. This event drew many English aficionados from prominent institutions, including the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, and the host university. Sidharth Singh distinguished himself as the champion, followed by Kgolagano Ntoagae and Lindiwe Sibiya, who clinched second and third places.

Sidharth's articulate English, perceptive thoughts, and remarkable delivery earned him accolades from both the jury and spectators. Kgolagano Ntoagae and Lindiwe Sibiya were impressed with their foundational grasp of English and eloquent presentation skills.


The "One Belt, One Road" Youth English Speaking Competition is orchestrated to augment English proficiency, bolster ties among the youth, and foster cultural dialogue under the "One Belt, One Road" framework. This event offered a vibrant stage for international youths to shine and share perspectives.


Wrapping up the event, the organizing committee articulated their aspiration for such platforms to amplify cultural diplomacy under the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, reinforcing global passion for English and fostering deeper intercultural understanding.
