2025 BRICS Youth Dialogue Held at UWC

On 28 July 2025, the BRICS Youth Dialogue was held at the Confucius Institute of Chinese Medicine at the University of the Western Cape. The event brought together students from UWC to explore key themes such as South-South cooperation, youth engagement in global development, and the growing partnership between China and South Africa.

Distinguished speakers included Prof. Shi Zhiqin from Tsinghua University, who offered a strategic perspective on BRICS and international relations; Dr. Umesh Bawa, Director of UWC’s International Relations Office, who highlighted the importance of education and collaboration in China–South Africa relations; and Dr. Brett Lyndall Singh, a leading South African entrepreneur, who encouraged youth to actively shape the future through global engagement.

The dialogue sparked dynamic discussions and enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting their strong interest in international issues and the role of youth in global change. The event not only deepened understanding among BRICS nations but also reinforced the importance of youth voices in building a more connected and cooperative world.
