Young Chinese Diplomats Engage with UWC Students: Exploring the Path of Chinese Modernization

On April 29, 2025, the symposium themed "Chinese Modernization and the World", hosted by the Chinese Consulate-General in the Western Cape and organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), was successfully held at UWC. Centered on the perspectives of youth, the event invited five young Chinese diplomats as keynote speakers and attracted active participation from faculty and students. The dialogue delved into the historical logic, practical pathways, and global implications of China's modernization process.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Tang Chang’an, Consul General of China in the Western Cape, emphasized that youth are a vital force in promoting mutual learning among civilizations. Drawing on their diplomatic experience, the five young diplomats presented in-depth analyses through case studies, data comparisons, and interactive discussions, systematically articulating the achievements and insights of Chinese modernization.
