On October 24, 2025, the “Shanxi Master Teachers Tour”, organized by the Shanxi Overseas Friendship Association and hosted by the South Africa Chinese Teachers Association, visited the Chinese Medicine Confucius Institute at the University of the Western Cape. The event brought a series of enriching and diverse lectures and cultural activities to local Chinese language teachers and students.

Professor Cui Zhengqing from Shanxi University delivered two keynote lectures titled “The Splendors of Jin: Shanxi’s Cultural Palette” and “AI-Assisted Strategies in Chinese Language Teaching.” Drawing on extensive teaching experience, she elaborated on how regional culture can be effectively integrated into Chinese language instruction and demonstrated innovative applications of artificial intelligence in language teaching, offering new insights and methodologies for educators.

Professor Liu Li from Shanxi University, presented two special sessions under the theme “Psychological Issues and Coping Strategies Among Primary and Secondary Students.” Addressing both parents and Chinese language teachers, she analyzed the psychological characteristics of overseas students and proposed practical counseling and teaching strategies to support their well-being and learning.
Mr. Lin Shengyu from Shanxi Vocational University of Culture and Tourism led an interactive cultural workshop titled “The Qitai Yangge Dance of Jinzhong,” inviting participants to experience the charm of traditional Shanxi folk dance.

This tour not only provided a valuable platform for learning and professional exchange among Confucius Institute teachers but also injected new vitality into Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion in South African higher education institutions.
