CI Hosted Spring Festival Event

On 17 February, the Confucius Institute hosted a Spring Festival Event on campus, welcoming nearly 1,000 staff and students to celebrate the Chinese New Year and experience traditional Chinese culture.

The event featured a range of interactive cultural activities, including Chinese calligraphy, pitch-pot , shuttlecock kicking and Chinese tea tasting. Guided by instructors, participants had the opportunity to practise writing Chinese characters and take part in traditional folk games. The lively and festive atmosphere allowed attendees to engage with the customs and traditions of the Spring Festival in an immersive and enjoyable way.

A special “New Year Wishes” segment added a personal touch to the celebration. Local students stepped in front of the camera to share greetings in Chinese, with phrases such as “Happy Spring Festival” and “Good luck in the Year of the Horse” which was heard throughout the venue, creating a warm and joyful ambience.

The celebration reached its climax with a dynamic dragon dance performance by a local team. Accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of gongs and drums, the dragon moved energetically across the performance space, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.

The Spring Festival Event not only enriched campus cultural life at UWC but also served as a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, further strengthening people-to-people ties between China and South Africa.

Kicked off a gaming session after taking a break from the usual routines, and the first stop was https://1win1.ng/ to see if it could actually feel exciting. Immediately, it wasn’t flashy jackpots that grabbed me, but the platform’s flow — games load fast, moving between sections is seamless, and the interface makes it easy to stay in the zone. I started with small bets, alternating between live tables and medium-volatility slots, and noticed that the more patient I was, the more enjoyable the sessions became. Live games added tension in a perfect way, while slots kept the pace steady. What stood out most is how approach shapes the experience: playing thoughtfully rather than chasing results makes even ordinary rounds engaging and…
